Default Strange, and awesome.

I am about one month away from two years of being the legal guardian of my cat. I've driven it over 22,000 miles; yet it never felt like it was my car.

But yesterday, for the first time in those two years marked the first time I got a feeling of belonging with the car. I've always had this feeling with my previous cars but never my Jaguar.

I'm pretty dang happy about it.

I was itching to post this yesterday, but was waiting to see if the feeling persisted while driving today. It does. I am one happy camper. I celebrated by taking my car out for a good photo shoot.

A funny thing, people would say "nice car", and ask if it was mine. I didn't feel it was mine, but legally it was, so as I answered in a way that was neither yes or no; I'd see this confused look come over their face.

Ah well, that won't happen any more.

Yes, nice car indeed! So who matured, you or the car?

Good deal. I spent yesterday on the road with both kids in my old Lincoln LS while we road tripped to Andrews air force base for the air show. What a long miserable ride. This evening I hopped in the Jag to put it away and it just felt 'right', put a smile on my face and it felt good to be back in it.

Didn't realise how more modern in appearance these cars look with the boot plaque JAGUAR colour coded in black.. I think a set of updated LED rear lights would really complete the look !

I agree with updating the rears to LED. I did it on mine & it just makes the entire rear now look modern. I didn't think it was going to make that much difference. There's some work involved but it's worth it.

I bonded with mine immediately. I drove it out of the dealer in Coventry, and at the next set of lights, a couple of guys in an Audi rolled their window down and yelled "Give it a rev, mate!". I flicked it to N and obliged - they cheered, I was hooked.

I think if it had been an R, this process might of been faster.

I think the reasons are many different factors, I couldn't say it is just one thing.

For one, after nearly two months of continually checking out all listings of X150's on multiple sites, I came to the conclusion that the car I own is actually one of my top favorite combinations that would be possible. I just didn't know it.

When I originally went X150 shopping, I wanted a color that was not on the market, Indigo Blue Metalic. Not a single car nationwide was for sale in that color.

The other color combinations I looked for where also not on the market at that time.

I was really looking to buy an X150 now, so I decided to narrow down to what was in immediate range. There were three coupes in the Charlotte area,

A 2010XKR in metallic silver, black interior, and CF inserts. It was the only R. I wanted a light interior and wood inserts.

A 2013 XK in Metallic Red with black interior, and piano black inserts.

A 2009 XK in Ebony with Caramel Interior and wood inserts.

The interior won out over the R.

I would of never considered shopping for one of these in black, but when I saw it in person I thought it looked great in the color. Now I know its one of my top favorites.

Another major factor is the depreciation, it is now solidly under $20K in book value, with trade in at $15K. That means I value it a lot more than the market does, as to me its still just as good, or better, than when I paid for it. It creates a situation where I recognize that I place a much higher value on the car than the public does. This makes it special to me, my own.

I also really like not having the XK badge on the back. It just doesn't fit me. The same for the vapor deposit chrome side blade and rear trim. Having the former gone and the latter covered over with wrap makes the car a better fit.

The new wheels ride much nicer than the old ones, the old ones while not visibly dented, might not be as straight as they should.

At some future point I might sell it for an R, or sell a Porsche and buy a 2nd Jaguar, but I think the X150, even if not this particular X150, is going to be mine for quite some time to come.

If these continue to depreciate without really bottoming out, I will probably end up with more than one down the road.
