Default Sudden bleed pipe clip leak

5.0 Naturally Asp. How is this mickey mouse finger clip sealed? I had a coolant loss, about a reservoir full before discovered, which came out around this clip. I put a new o-ring on the end of the pipe and it fit snugly, but still leaked immediately upon start-up.

I may have to go ahead with replacement of these bleed lines with real hose, although presently the original pipe is still good.

Thanks all, the car has been really great, two years in.

Default A better view of the clip

Oops. So the plastic pipe is super brittle. But I'm an optimist! Before the tube broke, my green o-ring did nothing. Maybe the center of the clip should project out longer? It might have broken off inside the outlet pipe. I could not find the bleed tubing with the T branch and the clip on Jaguar Classic.

Now I will have to custom build the bleed system using hose and adapters. The outlet pipe fitting will take 5/8" hose. The tank is 3/8". The tubes from the W/P and TB must tie into the bleed and are a special kind of headache. Open to suggestions.

Default All Better Now

Plastic tubes replaced with rubber hoses (1/4"). New L-clip fitting installed into outlet pipe.

The old finger clip broke off inside the outlet pipe, broken piece gently removed using a large screw.

Sourced a new L-clip fitting from a complete bleed tube assembly for the XF ($18 aftermarket), the unit for the XK 5.0 is $100 on ebay. All I used was the clip fitting as I had already made up my rubber hoses.

The diagram on Jaguar Classic Parts shows the bleed hose that I think is on the 4.2 ($$$). It looks nothing like whats on the 5.0. But, they do show the right part number for the 5.0, C2P12405. The part I used from the XF is C2Z4547 (= C2Z14540).

Engine cover goes back on tomorrow.
