Default Supercharger Question

Potentially a very embarrassing question, I just upgraded my 2007 XK convertible to a 2007 XKR convertible. I noticed when driving at highway speeds, there is a noise that sounds like the supercharger. The odd thing is it does not seem to whine in concert with engine RPM. Is this normal? The XKR is an amazing car, I love it!

The supercharger usually only whines loudly on hardish acceleration. Normal cruising should not whine much. Hit WOT and you will hear it quite a bit.
For others out there with a 2010+, somehow Jaguar got rid of nearly all the whine on the 5.0. Don't know why, it's cool.

I don't hear mine on my 2008 4.2 XKR. Could be my hearing is shot but I'd be surprised if it was that bad already.

The one on my '07 XKR is more audible since I had the top pulley changed for a smaller one. I presume that is because the compressor is spinning faster.

That would seem to make sense. How audible would you say it was before the pulley swap?

I don't think it was hugely audible just there in the background. I had an X308 XJR for 7 years and the supercharger whine on that was much more obvious.

I don't hear the Supercharger on my 08 XKR, that's with F19 pulled or not
