Time to part ways..... need advice
Hello all!
Well the sad day has come where I need to part ways with my 2010 XKR Vert (blue on tan if you all would like to know).
The old lady and I are expecting our first child and the car doesn't fit in the cards anymore but I have a dilemma and would like the boards feedback.
I'm not in a huge rush to sell the car and now that it's fall and quickly moving into winter, I'm not sure it's the best time to try selling this kind of car. Problem is, if I stick it in the garage and wait until spring convertible time, that car ticks over another year old.
What would you guys do? Sell now or wait for the spring?
2010 Jaguar XKR Vert. Blue exterior, Blue top, tan interior. 43,xxx miles. All options.
Oh and I might as well mention it now, the old lady drove it for the first time to work and back a couple months ago and got hit coming back into the neighborhood. The at fault driver hit her in the driver side rear wheel (no body damage remarkably) and the car went to a Jag/LR specialist who performed all the repairs and she back to her normal self.
Thoughts?

Try selling it now. If you can get your price, why wait? If it doesn't sell you are in the same place either way. That is a hot color combo, so anyone who may be looking nationally will surly be reviewing your car.
Get plenty of pictures and if you have pictures of the repair and receipt that helps too. More info the better. Try Bring a Trailer.

Agree. The sooner it is on the market, the more likely the person looking for that car will find yours, and not somebody else's.
I'm an impulsive buyer, so when I decided I wanted a Jaguar three years ago, I searched the websites (cargurus, cars.com, autotrader) nationwide, and found 6 cars in the color combo I wanted, and this was also in November.
One was sold before I could contact the private seller, another had no pictures, the third was at a dealer with a bad history, fourth had been badly modified, the fifth one I test drove, but had not been well cared for, and finally the sixth was at a good other brand dealer. Had lots of pictures, so I bought it and had it shipped haft way across the country to me, and I got it a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Didn't get to drive it much before winter set in, but it was mine.
So you'd really rather have a baby than your Jag?
Good luck!

Agree.
Interest rates are low.
Inventories are low (thank the TX floods)
Folks have their ins payouts in hand.
There is no winter where millions of cars were lost.
P.S. even with new family member, Jag has made provisions, so you have a 3 year window, before needing to relegate young mommy into a minivan.
I was raised in the backseat of a jaguar coupe. Taught me to be tidy, have no claustrophobia, and still wonder why all the women are looking at me.

I think you've been given a lot of spot on advice already.
I would highly recommend posting pictures of the damage, and if possible, pictures of the damage being fixed.
If a car is flagged with accident damage, but there is no reference in the for sale add, I pass on to the next car.
Go ahead and post pictures and the car in the classified section here. While it may not be a color of interest to the modern car buyer; it is to the classic/enthusiast buyer.

Sold and bought many convertibles via private sale. Here in Canada, the best time to buy one is late fall, you can easily knock off 25% or more as there is zero demand. The best time to sell one is mid spring, people start shopping for one and get emotionally attached driving one top down on a warm spring day. You can easily sell for the list price this way.

I agree with others here. I just bought my convertible and drove it back 1500 miles from New Mexico to Kentucky. Had the top down through NM, TX and OK but now it probably wont be down unless we get out of ordinary weather between now and April. Point is, there are many buyers that look nationwide for just the right vehicle. Some have top down weather all year; and, even with those that don't, if they are truly interested like I was, that wont matter either.
