In Florida tinting is pretty much mandatory. It really cuts down on the heat. Having said that, my Xk has tinted side and back windows, as dark as the law allows and it looks great IMHO.

TINT!!!

That being said, NJ does not allow for tinting the front side windows nor the visor line, however the rear sides and back can be tinted any%. Just be sure if you do tint, to use the non-metallic film.

I'm tinting mine as soon as I find a good shop and have an afternoon to waste.

Tint is a personal preference - but I say tint! I think the right shade and % light transmission is a perfect complement to most cars, and certainly the one you're driving. Strongly suggest going with a non-metallic tint as the radio reception needs all the help it can get. Good luck

What if you have a convertible??? I'm leaning towards not tinting...

No real choice here in Houston but to tint so you know my vote!

I agree - tint on a convertible isn't the best. It looks great when the top is up; but doesn't look right when the top is down and light is coming from inside the cabin.

(I should also mention that mine isn't tinted yet - after I 'absorb' the cost of the audio upgrade, that's the next and final tweak)

I just wanted to "LIKE" this pic here. And say that tint adds more than just a sleekness to the car. It also works as privacy tinting for your passengers and so crooks have a more difficult time seeing in. I am all for the tint.

I love this, but fear the pass. window is too dark for CA. Does it look ok if the pass. window is lighter than the small rear-side?

I'm puzzled I'm in Georgia and usually have the top and windows down, so tinting is of no interest to me. I see that you're in sunny Southern California (where the weather is nicer than in GA), so...when do you put your top and windows up? Why tint the side windows if they're down most of the time? OK, maybe you put the top up sometimes at night or when you're parked outside. But IMHO all you need is a good sun reflector to protect your leather dash from shrinking in the hot sun. Just my .

Agreed...didn't wind up tinting and don't plan to. I do drive on the freeway a lot with the windows up and top down to shield some noise etc. Think it looks better without tinting in this situation. Of course if the windows are down who cares!

I don't know the actual % but it is legal tint. The pic makes it look a bit darker than it really is

There is not a car on the road that doesn't look better with tint. Here in NM people even tint the windshield.

I went 15% on all my windows on my Volvo. I liked the way it looked but outside of the city where I live in the mountains it was hard to see. My XJ6 dosnt have tint as of yet but if I don't tint it the interior is going to get eaten alive by the sun.

So hopefully in the nest couple of weeks I will have it finished. Probably go 20%
