For you convert guys do you park your car at night in your garage with the top down or with it up (closed).

If I just washed it the top is always up but otherwise it is down waiting for a ride. Of course in the winter months the top is up even if not being stored for a time. Having the top down for longer periods tends to present crease marks on it but that is only a minor issue to me.

I almost always close the top in the garage unless I plan to drive again soon. I find that the interior stays MUCH cleaner with the top up, both inside the garage and outside. Kind of obvious I know, but that's the reason.

I always put the top up, attach my battery maintainer, lock the doors, step back and take one more look, make sure that the rear glass hasn't separated again, put on the car cover and tuck the old girl in for the night.

When I first bought the car new, I was a little obsessed with how to protect and maintain the car for the long run. I was working for an ad agency that represented JLR at the time (which is how I as able to get the car at a reasonable to-me price). The company reps I met with, and the service experts in the UK they had me call, all said you should never leave it top down at all. According to them, the top will stay in much better and tighter condition over the long run, while also avoiding creases keeping it up whenever it's parked. I have followed that advice since then. Logically, this approach makes sense to me. Plus, as others mentioned, keep out the dust.

That totally makes sense. I guess I need to modify my habits then.

Yes, that makes sense. However, I bought mine used, and it already had creases from previous owners, and what appear to be wear spots from the material rubbing on itself (or something), and I would attribute that to putting the top up and down. (At first I thought they were grease spots from the delivery trunk driver, but upon close examination, it is just the material is a bit 'frizzy' and reflects light differently than the rest of the top.)
So, in order to not increase the frizzies, I tend to leave the top down during the summer.

I always park mine with the top up to keep the interior a little cleaner. My top was already creased when I bought the car, but I was wondering how yours is doing since you bought your car new.

I will have to change my habit from parking with top down in my garage to putting the top up when ever
parked.

The top is still as new. Very minor creasing if you look for it. At the time I asked them if I should do a convertible top treatment and they said 'Absolutely Not!'. So it's just been washed over the years with no special treatments and still looks great.

I have to disagree with the no treatment advice. My previous top had not been treated and was mistreated by the PO to the point I had to replace it. Even the shop that replaced it suggested regular use of convertible top treatment. I use 303 but there are other brands that work just as well. Just sayin

I park my car outside and generally leave the top down for several days at a time. JUST KIDDING!!

In the summer months, my top is down more often than not. But it can get brisk here at night in Seattle even in the summer so if I’m driving at night, I may raise the top. If that’s the case, I just leave it up until I drive it again. But it’s definitely down more than it is up in the garage during the warm weather.
