Default Upload issues with Bluetooth phone book 2012 XK

I recently acquired my second XK, having traded a 2008 convertible for a 2012 convertible. Many significant improvements starting with the new engine. One problem thus far. When uploading the phone book from my GSM Iphone 4, all of the phone numbers (including FAX) are loading into the XK memory. The result, from the midpoint of the letter S on the upload is truncated. Dealer shop foreman advised delete unwanted individual numbers manually and the problem will be solved. However, every time the phone pairs the same situation occurs. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

So, he's telling you that you have more numbers than the XK can handle?

Yes, he advises that the capacity of the in car unit is 750 entries. I have gone through the phonebook in the car and deleted all the extraneous numbers. However, they keep reappearing.

Ok, so it sounds like what's happening is that the car unit keeps syncing to the phone. That means that you have to delete entries in the phone, not in the car unit.

Thanks. I spoke with the shop foreman this afternoon. He is going to speak with their supplier and get back to me. One other thing he said was, after I get done deleting the extraneous contact information to go into settings in the car and tell the system not to synchronize with the Iphone phone book. The problem with that is then no new info gets into the system in the xk. I'll let you know the results of his conversation with Techline.

That's why I said that the issue is with the size of the contacts file in the phone. It's too big for the car's memory.

Here's how I think you can get around it:
1. Back up your iPhone to iTunes and/or iCloud
2. Edit your contacts on your iPhone, and delete all the numbers that you don't need in your car.
3. Let the car sync to this smaller contact list.
4. After that's done, tell the car's system not to sync anymore.
5. Go back to iTunes or iCloud and restore your iPhone

Of course, each time you add another number in the phone that you want to have in the car, then you would have to repeat this process.
