Default Washing underside of XK Coupe

Morning,
How do you wash the underside of your XK? Scared to use regular car wash so any clever quick ideas?
I can't crawl underneath for at least a month because of my recent eye surgery. So..............

Thanks, Adrian

Hi Adrian,
You could try one of those portable garden sprinklers, just drive the car over the top, turn the water on and leave it for 5 minutes or so.

Might work.

I was somewhat surprised to see exposed wires as part of the wiring harness connections under the XK and would never want any high pressure water in those areas. Using a hose in the wheel wells and any other areas that are accessible should be sufficient.

I was kind of afraid to go through the car wash and get the under car wash done. However, I ran over a varmint and got some really bad road kill smell so I had to have it done. I had them do a double under wash and it did get rid of the smell with no problems. Now I get it done every few months. It also does a better job of getting rid of brake dust inside the rims if I'm too lazy to get down there and clean them.

I don't have a hose at my apartment so I can't only use rinseless carwash liquids. So I don't do the undercarriage. I let the rainwater take care of that!

Hopefully I'll get a place with a garage and a hose soon!

Garden hose with sprinkler is quite common method. You go to do it yourself high pressure and just get under the car.

Look at it this way when there is a major oil spill and they need to get the ducks cleaned they use Dawn liquid detergent. Also if you ask a good detailer the will most likely tell you they pressure clean the engine bay and the undercarriage. So take it from there and if you have a clean car with no oil leaks then the car wash undercarriage wash should keep it clean. As for me I usually move my 4 post lift (it has wheels) out on my driveway and use my pressure washer to do the undercarriage. It takes a day to do our 2 (was 3) cars and truck. Remember if you do it at the car wash the undercarriage spray is at the beginning as you drive in so go very slow.
