Default Water drop on my feet when I turn right!

I’ve been surprise when I received some water on my feet this afternoon.
didn’t drive in rain lately, just wash the car a few days ago. Drive about 1000 miles in the last week in vacation. Good weather, not particularly humid.

any ideas what can produce that?

More complete answer: there is a small rubber drain tube for the air conditioning that sticks out from the firewall into the engine bay, just above the transmission. it is known as the "duckbill" because of its shape, which is designed to allow water out but prevent insects getting in. It becomes blocked because the two halves of the bill become stuck together, especially in hot, dry conditions. That means water builds up in the a/c system and drips out, usually into the passenger footwell - it can even short out the blower motor.

The first thing to try is to close all the a/c vents and tape up the ones in the footwells, then turn the fan on full blast - the pressure this creates may blow the duckbill open. If that doesn't work, the only fix is to modify or replace the duckbill. There are two ways: the easy but expensive way is to remove the whole dashboard to get at the tube from the inside. The hard but cheap way is to use a borescope or a mirror on a stick to find the duckbill, and then a sharp blade on a stick to cut most of it off - this not a simple job.

No need to tape the ducts in the footwell if you manually adjust the vents to face only.

Ah, OK, so set the system to face-vents-only using the touch screen, then close them?

Default Well!

Thank you all for the info.
not a unique problem. The tread on that topic as 12 pages!

I’ve drive another 1000 miles since the weather flood but it seem it was a single event. But I will try to blow it anyway.
I think I will blow in the vent with my leaf blower to increase the pressure. Will see.

Yes, and vary the air speed occasionally between FULL BLAST and s l o w to hopefully force the condensate out of the duckbill.

I am surprised that the OP has a wet foot issue as his car is a 2012. The duckbill with the wider opening was introduced a couple of years before that.

Ah, good point - though I think I saw a couple of posts that said it happened on 5.0 cars. It's certainly not frequent, unlike 4.2s. The later tube has a very short bill, but there's still a flattened section that clamps together and I guess it's possible for it to get gummed shut.

As u102768 has pointed out, the duckbill issue is usually only on 4.2 cars, though it's not impossible on a 5.0. And it usually drips into the passenger's footwell, not the driver's. Maybe you have a different problem.

It does but the duck bill was changed from VIN B34500 which is partway through the 2010MY.
