Water pump replacement on 4.2 car XKR
So now I'm with 92,000 miles ony 08 xkr. I started to notice occasional noise during startup and started to smell coolant once in awhile. I looked under the car and found traces of coolant running down towards on to the oil filter I'm assuming from the water pump. has anyone replaced water pumps in our cars? what brand is the best to use and how difficult is the job?

I smell traces of coolant on my 07 pretty much after each drive, subtle but still there. My fluid hasn't changed levels in 4000 miles since I've owned this car. I think it might be the overflow cap giving off the smell.
The water pump isn't hard finding the bolts is the worst part. The coolant manifold comes off first. Get the manual and follow the bleeding instructions. Or better yet use a high lift if you have one to suck out the air. Oh get a pair of radiator clamp pliers if you don't have them. And the gaskets are crazy expensive at the dealer
