The registration for my newly acquired 2009 XK Coupe reads "Black", but my question is simply what did Jaguar call this particular color? Is it metallic black, sparlle black, ebony blue, or something else? In example, my 1999 Chrysler was listed as tan on the registration, the manufacturer called it "Champagne Pearl"..
Is there a color chart, for a paint match? Or perhaps a list of colors available for that year? I kind of like "Ebony Blue Metalic" if people ask"What color is it?" that answer would be kind of cool.

my 12 was a metallic black that looked like a very dark blue in certain lighting. It's official name is Ultimate Black.

 

Looks like "Penguin Black" to me.

But seriously, check the exterior colour code on the drivers door jam for the code. That will tell you exactly which colour it is.

 

Totally forgot about that. if my memory is working the trim code is three letters.

Assuming that you car is a 4.2 then it is most likely Ultimate Black. Midnight Black was also available but only until mid 2008.

My old 07 XKR was Midnight and had a blue tinge to it in sunlight. My current 10 XKR is Ultimate Black and is much darker and much more sparkly.
