Default What's your second vehicle

Just wondering how many out there are loyal to JLR

The reason I ask is we are looking to trade our e550 (family car) in for a range rover sport

I have absolutely no loyalty at all to JLR, or any other brand (5 cars , 5 brands, all do different things). I just happen to have stumbled on one of their cars (albeit modified) that I like. Our second most used car would my wifes Subie.

This is my first Jag, so I cannot claim any loyalty to the brand.
My second car is a Lexus, but that was my first Japanese car, so I can't claim any loyalty to that brand or country either (but I did buy it used, 15 years ago, and it just keeps running).
Previously, I guess I was a loyal GM owner, only getting the Lexus because after getting married my wife was uncomfortable driving my Caddy when she had to, said it was too 'big' for her (she's only owned, and still does, small Japanese cars). I drove the Caddy until it 'gave up the ghost' and then got the Lexus (in all but one case, I drive 'em till the die).

My everyday/family car is a 2015 MB GL550. I really like it! We had a 2011 GL450 before it which honestly I didn't like as much. My wife even said that was our last Mercedes. It was just plain, had the mbtex interior which we didnt like and its look was kind of average. The newer 550's details and materials are way nicer, the leather seats are so much better, and I think they finally perfected the vehicle after many years. I'm really happy with it. The new 550 has a much bigger engine than the 450 and for its size is amazingly responsive.

We test drove the RR-sport and Lexus LX. The sport drove great but I just thought for the price the interior was a little too plain. The big RR was much more like what i wanted but the price was just outrageous, imho. The Lexus was great and had everything we wanted but the 2015LX was just a very dated design and it felt huge and boxy. I think the 2016LX is "all new" but i haven't looked at it. It does have that huge Lexus grill which is a turn-off to me. We had a 2006? gx470 which was well designed, comfortable, capable, etc. and thought Lexus was a great company and i would have been happy to return to them as a customer.

LR3 for things that don't fit in the Jag.

My Jag is my daily driver and my NSX Targa (5-speed manual) is my 'second' car. They are as different as night and day ... but I love them both the same!

My XJ is my daily driver and I drive my XKR only on nice days. I can't decide which one I prefer - they're both great and a joy to drive. Although they have much DNA in common (design, performance, materials), they are completely different.

My car other than the XKR is a 2009 BMW 535i. Bought it in 2013 with 20k miles on it. It had a few love taps which were easy fixes. Also needed new tires. I offered the guy a stupid low ball offer of $18,000. He took it!

3 years later I still have not hit 60k on it. The twin turbo 3.0 liter straight 6 is a pretty bullet proof engine. And for a 4 door, the 535 can get up and go!!!

We had the XK and a Range Rover, but traded the Range Rover in on a leased Volvo. JLR had nothing in our new car lease budget. I hope to be in a JLR product if we lease again. An XKR convertible is on the short list for a Volvo replacement if we go used. We'd love to get the new body style Range Rover, but they're still a little too out of our price range for a second car and I don't want that kind of car instead of the Lotus.

2008 6spd Saab 9-3 Aero Sportcombi (aka wagon).

Honestly, I think I like the Saab better than the XK.

It averages 26mpg, is fitted with some of the most comfy seats ever devised, has decent storage space w/o being jacked up, sports a hitch and roof rack, and even has more twist (405 vs 380 lb-ft) than the XK.

It also kinda looks cool. It is polarizing for sure. A few people absolutely love it, but most just don't 'get it'.

Skoda Fabia vRS - basically a VW Polo GTi with a Skoda body. Only 1.4l, so very economical when driven sedately, but it has a turbo and a supercharger and puts out 180 hp through an excellent 7-speed DSG 'box that does lightning changes - 0-60 in 7 secs. 5 doors with folding seats, so takes 5 people comfortably and you can load a lot of junk in the back when you need load carrying, but it's compact and easy to park in London's congested streets.

Of course, none of this is relevant to you folks in the US, because VW doesn't market the Skoda brand over there. But it's a great car.

BMW X3 is the other ride for my wife and I. Finally sold my 2007 Chevy Avalanche this last year, with 186,000 miles on it. I actually miss having a big truck for long road trips and hauling stuff.

My son just about joined the JLR family, as he was pretty sold on getting a lightly used RR Evoque, but the dealership couldn't hit his budget #. They weren't that far apart, but neither side would budge...so no deal.

I have a few choices when going to the key box. I could use a 10 car garage and would be easy to fill it.

2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Editon Convertible
2014 Ford F150 Supercrew Texas Edition
2014 Porsche 981
2015 Corvette C7 Coupe
2017 Kia Sportage EX

I had the XKR and my wife an XE. I love the XE to drive, it is seriously the best car I've driven though I prefer the power and looks of the XKR and now the f type.

One of my business partners has a new RR Sport. He got the base diesel in black with white upholstery. It is a lovely car and looks very classy.

If I was looking for a SUV, I'd test drive the F Pace first because it is supposed to drive like the XE, though the RR interior is probably more traditional if that is your cuppa.
