Default Why the "press and hold" for memory position?

My wife's Vanden Plas memory buttons only have to be pressed and released momentarily and the seat and memory positions are realized. On my 07 XKR I have to press and hold the memory button until everything stops moving to realize the full memorized positions of the seat, mirrors, etc.

Anybody know why Jag decided to do this differently for the XJ's and the XK's???

I thought surely that when I moved from my 02 XKR to the newer XKE that they would work without having to hold the buttons down...

Actually I would think the press and hold is a safety feature. If you were very Tall and the memory position forced you into the steering wheel it wouldn't be pretty

Not quite following you here...you don't mean when you are moving/driving do you?

As far as I know, the memory buttons don't work when the gear selector is out of park. The seat adjustments do work, but these necessarily have to be held to make the seat move.

If you are in "park" and the memory causes you to go to far forward just hit the button again to stop it...

I know what you mean. I would also like the remote to remember your seating and steering wheel positions. My BMW's do that and one is 11 years old.

What I am saying is if you just touched the memory button and the seat was set to go all the way forward and the steering wheel all the out then you would effectively be smashed between the two.

I am sure it was simply a diffent suppplier of the switch. Either way, it isn't that hard to hold the button for the 3 seconds it takes to adjust.

The remotes that configure everything is really a great feature. Wish it was available on the jag for my model year
