Wrong Diagnosis about Water Pump it’s the Crossover
I took my 2011 XK into the garage after it’s been sitting since oct. as I just connected it to the trickle and let it sit starting it once a month.. During a diagnosis I was told that it was the water pump, I was sent a text and they think it may be the crossover flange in the manifold. I have the part already as I come prepared as always.. I even have the 8 oval gaskets to replace. Should they use gasket dressing before setting or just leave them dry?.. Also, should I ask that they apply the 179.50 to the Flange replacement that I still need to approve and what should I accept for labor cost? They said the leak is coming from the water pump. He was supposed to put 2 gaskets on the oil cooler pipe and connecting to the oil cooler pipe that is between the Water Pump and Manifold. Should I ask that he transfers the 179.50 to the flange replacement? That now needs to be done?

Reason: Typo
For me, one garage thought it was the WP but wasn't sure. I had more faith in another garage who said it was the thermostat housing! A known problem in the non turbo V8s. And he used the Dorman copy.
Dear Sony,
hope all is well with your Cat, the thermostat housing is below the front crossover flange within the manifold.. It would cause persistent leakage behind the oil cooler pipe.. But I will be there Mon. Morning at 7:30 to review the steps taken during the installation process to be sure that 3 o-rings were used in the OC pipe
Sorry if this is off the topic. Am I correct to assume this aluminum connecting pipe to the oil cooler is a non Jaguar OEM part (as to the original plastic pipe) ? If so, is there is there anyone on this forum who has had experience with replacing any or all of these aluminum upgraded replacement parts (on a non supercharged XK) along with whatever plastic parts that have no metal upgrades? I'm fairly certain that the Jaguar dealership would not be using these parts as they are not OEM but aftermarket replacements for the same part.... correct? I'd be interested to know how these replacements parts have worked out, because we have a scenario of mixing plastic with metal cooling parts. Sorry, but I have no knowledge of the number of gaskets involved, but doesn't the water pump have to be removed when replacing this pipe? I had Jaguar replace all my plastic cooling pipes 2 years ago (excluding the water pump as it was replaced the year before) and would have considered the metal replacements (if they were available), but Jaguar did the job.
