Default The X150 Lives On...

... in the form of the David Brown sportscar.

http://m.autoblog.com/2014/02/12/david-brown-jaguar-based-sports-car-debut-in-monaco/?post=1&icid=autoblog_river_article

Personally, I don't get it. A rebodied XKR with better styling? How does it get any better than what Jag already did with the X150?

I thought this car was going to be less of an "exotic" and more of a true British roadster!

Also it says 0 to 60 in an estimated 4.6 seconds, which would seem to indicate that it is probably heavier than an XKR since it has the same 5.0L drivetrain and chassis. So much for a "sports car"!

Will be interesting to see what it looks like.

Waste of money in my opinion. Just a body kit more-or-less (albeit) expensive.

Default David Brown Speedback

I have my doubts on this one.

It may be accepted over in the UK, but see limited to no success in the USA. Reminds me of the 1060's style Aston Martin from an older James Bond movie.

But really reminds of what Ford Motor tried to do with bringing back the ever so popular Ford Thunderbird from the past.

The new model of Ford Thunderbird from mid 2000's was a bomb. Similar in style to the Davis Brown Speedback. Interesting that he even mentions the Jaguar XKR. The new XK/XKR which is expected in 2017 will have such modern design and technology the David Brown Speedback will not compare.

This is a solid 2 thumbs down by me. I don't even have to read any reviews. My vision says this is a "bomb" and explodes soon after any production. Certainly a style that is destined for "death" in production, in my opinion.

I just wonder what his inspiration for this whole idea was. Hey! I have the same name as the REAL David Brown, so I'm going to try to recreate his car!

Without considering price, I like it, right down to the wire wheels.

As I said elsewhere, it looks like an XKR shagged a DB5 and this is the mongrel offspring. I kinda like it, but I keep seeing XKR everywhere, since it looks like it's basically a nose & **** job, with some interior trim tweaks - everything else is standard XKR (except the no-doubt astronomical price)

Doesn't the roofline look a little different to you? I guess I'm not surprised they were able to reshape the roofline since on the coupes, the roof is not integral to the chassis pan of the car (shared by coupe and convertible) and is instead welded on after the pan has already been formed.

I think the wire wheels are a disaster. Wire wheels and low profile tires don't mix, methinks. It also makes the fender gaps appear enormous.

Actually, yeah - doing a side-by-side photo comparison, the windscreen and A-pillar are more upright, more than an XK8 and way more than an XK. But the overall shape still says "Jag" to me rather than "Aston".

First thing I thought when I saw this was "Aston". Which is not bad. Classic in its own way. Just not Jag.

I actually kind of like it if I don't think XKR while looking at it.

That sums up my thoughts exactly, including the comment about the A-pillar looking more like an XK8.

A few years ago there were 3D photoshopped images of come companies Old is New version of an XKE that was going to cost like a million dollars. I liked most of the design but the sides had predominant Corvette fender coves from like a 2007 Vette. They did a coupe mock up and it got my head thinking about a modern version but it apparently never happened as I cant find any pictures anywhere.

Its not the company who make that awesome retro Xk which Simon Cowell just bought one of.

This idea I think is interesting but building it on the current XK which is now no longer being produced just killed any future thought of coming to market on a bigger scale.

You're not thinking of the Eagle Speedster, are you?

Eagle Speedster // Home

That one seems fairly true to the original, at least in spirit!
