Post The XJ's Interior

When at the dealership I took a good look at the XJs interior, from what I saw in the pics I thought the ac vents looked out of proportion or just plain ugly. Well to my pleasant surprise the interior was gorgeous, the leather on the dash was a superior quality to the XKs, the centerstack and gauges were also top notch. Impressive.

I agree. It's a stunning car.

I agree with your horrific looking A/C vents, I called them as hippo nose when I first saw them on the net . lol

Why haven't they given the XK a similar treatment? I have always felt that XK's interior is a weak point, primarily the center console.

Most likely it's because the X150s were first built in '06 under cash strapped Ford and Tata probably thinks it's to costly for an entire interior makeover for the current model year. Hopefully the redesigned '14 model will have a better interior.

I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the XJ's. The rep told me the XK will get a full redo in MY2015 and it will be even larger with more rear seat room, the reason for this is the new 2013/14 XE will take over as the sportier Jag, he said he's seen prototypes of the coupe version and it's stunning. I'd imagine when they redo the XK the interior will get a substantial improvement, the rep also indicated the price point for the new XK's will go way up.

8 years....that's a long life cycle. I thought MB was long at 7 years. Good for us though who has the X-150s.

BTW....is the XJ still flash based interface? If so...is it faster to move from screen to screen? It's cool to see it slide between menus but wish it moved faster on the XKs.

I almost pulled the trigge on the XJL supercharged...interior, including the brain / windows / flash based interface is far beyond the XK...this is what we'll have in a couple years. BUT 1- go look at the issues in their forum about the roof/sunroof beyond anything else, and I am not sure Tata didn't move a little fast rolling it out. It is no 760Li, and scary what the damn Equus has for half the price. Im looking forward to sedan improvements for 2013 fixing a beautiful inside. Try as you may however, you can't get that performance of the XKR coupe or the top down like the XKR vert...

I too love the new XJ. I had seen where the roof problems were only associated with the first production cars. I looked over a new XJL Super car at the dealer and the rear sunvisors were already broken in the showroom. The dealer had them held up with tape. I can say this dealership is not the brightest in the world.

Most of the complaints about the XJ are about roof pops and lots of bugs on the nav/sound/controls system. They also complain about the super slow interface and lack of intuitiveness. I believe this first generation of virtual instruments and navigation cluster will have limited days - they have to improve those systems substantially to be able to compete with Lexus and the other cars in this class.

I bought my XJL on April 1..... uh oh I've had no problems with the snap, crackle popping others mention and the software has worked the way it was designed. It's a little slow but I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't read about it in Consumer Reports review. It's negligible. The important thing is the car is FLAWLESS looking and driving and Jaguar has fixed the software glitches from the earlier production models I don't regret at all trading my MB CLS 63 amg in for one minute.
