Default XK for XKR

Would anyone consider trading an 07 XK for an 06 XKR all things being equal, condition, milage. My opinion is I would because of the asthetics mainly. Looking for opinions.

So just to be clear, this is a trade for the next generation XK for the previous generation XKR?

Or is Edmonton across the pond in Jolly old England to whit an 06 XKR is still a next gen XK(R)...

We do get the odd new model out here and we even drive on the right side of the road. Seriously I have always thought the first generation XKs are nicer looking than the new base model XKs. My car is very nice but for an 06 XKR of equal condition I would make the trade, but for no money difference. Am I nuts or am I making a good buy. Obviously I am not so hung up about performance besides I cannot afford to get anymore tickets.

If it's basically a garage queen that you'll hang onto then definitely go with the style you prefer, but if it's more of a driver then consider if the smart money is on the newer design, and better for resale when it's time for a newer driver. Consider if your car has been reliable, and whether it's worth the risk of buying someone else's problems. If you enjoy working on your own car, or have a good mechanic you have faith in, that can makes all the difference also.

Technology difference is too great for me to consider the older model as a trade.

You aren't nuts. You should go with what *you* want. Although I would have to agree with Moses about the technology upgrade.

I had an 02 XKR 100 and it was a beautiful car and loved it. I would have kept it but just don't have the room to store it. The previous gen XK is still a beautiful car. The 06 XKR has basically the same engine as the next gen/07 XKR. But there are other mechanical differences and upgrades with respect to suspension, etc.

It really comes down to what you want. Sounds to me like you want the 06 XKR.
