@MGTF My first car! 1955 MGTF1500, bought by my Dad in 1957 for $1500 and sold in 1959 for $1400. Not a bad investment, and I learned how to become a shade tree mechanic. I learned why it came from the factory with a set of hand tools. They knew it would break down and you would be up the creek without a paddle if you didn't have metric tools. It also had clamp-on side curtains instead of roll-up windows that would leak like a sieve whenever it rained, and a heater that would burn your right leg and never keep the car warm. And first gear was useless because it wasn't synchromesh and it would top out at around 10 mph. It wasn't quick, reliable, or comfortable, but even with only 60 HP it sure was fun! But you had to be "a jolly good sport" to drive it, which is why it's called a Sport's car!
Those were the good old days, when you could fix your own car because you could see what was broken and it didn't cost you a small fortune. Unfortunately, if you had to replace a part, you had to wait for the ship to arrive.
