hi all
The glove box lock just popped out on my 2014 xkr. I was wandering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it without a new glove box cost. I closed the glove box and the spring and barrel just popped out. Looking inside it appears to be a broken clip of some sort that hold the lock in place ? The car has not had a hard life 13000ks well maintained.
Looks like things are starting to perish. first the pedestrian safety sensors, then the suspension bushes and now the glove box lock.
my location is QLD AUSTRALIA.
I read a few threads and can see that others overseas have had similar issues. I wander if any xkr owners have encountered this episode if so what did they do to fix it ?
many thanks
.
Searching the forum didn’t come up with someone successfully DIY fixing it themselves (part number C2P6222XXX, where ‘XXX’ is your interior trim code, e.g. SEP), but a couple of threads with pictures that might help you get a handle on how to fix yours:
Bushes, like tires and brakes are maintenance items.
Other than the door opening damper, I've had no such issue. Those links provided by kj07xk should serve you well.

jetnoosa, my glovebox broke in 4 different places when accessing the wiring of its 12v accessory power socket. I used JB Weld's quick-setting steel-reinforced epoxy to repair it and it is now very solid. This epoxy sets up in 6 minutes so you can simply hold glued pieces together instead of figuring out how to clamp such irregular-shaped pieces. It is fully cured in 4 to 6 hours.

The most significant break - the entire right side broke off.

BTW, I've also use the JB Weld to repair one of the plastic tabs on the underside of the gear-shift surround and it is now also very solid.
