Can anyone confirm whether this fuse applies to 2011's as well? I am wondering if my stock exhaust would have been louder if I had pulled this fuse...

I am sure it does apply to 2011 too.

I may put mine back in, but I agree on parking garage it is safer more noise, maybe in town too.
on the book check if fuses 19 in the rear seat are for exhaust valves, if yes, then it does apply I guess.

Ok, so let me make sure I fully understand this. The active exhaust feature opened a valve only at high rpm's. But removing the fuse leaves it open. So that means the higher rpm sound will be the same since it used to open up there before. But he low rpm and idle will be different is that correct?

Also, will the upper range change at all? Would be great if the 2011's could sound like the 2013 with the active exhaust like the ones I drove at the R Academy. They sounded really good.

Here is a clip:

On my '07, there was no appreciable difference in sound at the upper ranges.

Default It works as described

Yes, Fuse 19 does make a difference when it is not there! Worth the 5 minutes to find it and remove it. Makes all 4 exhaust pipes equally dirty now, not just the two that normally get all the work. Sounds much better from 2500 to 4000RPM...

I removed mine about 6 months ago and also noticed that my gas mileage improved from around 17mpg to 19mpg......

Have you noticed any difference in power in the low rpm range, specifically from a dead stop?

I don't think I've noticed any performance change. But even with the fuse removed, the exhaust is still too quiet for my ears!

I removed mine over a year ago just to "try it", thinking I would soon put it back in...... nope! Couple the missing fuse 19 along with keeping the revs up by shifting with the paddles at stoplights and you WILL turn heads!

Default Fuse 19 - no performance change, just better sound

No noticeable difference yet in performance or economy but have not had the car long enough to measure the difference if any in economy as have not done the same routes for long enough to compare. Sound improveent alone though is worth it - does not make it uncomfotable at cruising but better from low revs to when it would normallycut in at 4000rpm.

That's exactly what I do!

I'm increasingly tempted to remove Fuse 19 from my XKR to get that extra growl from the exhaust at lower RPM. The Aston Martin Vantage guys sometimes do a similar thing with Fuse 22 but there's occasional talk of it being damaging if done on a prolonged basis because, I think, the valve can stick open.

Has anyone come across this and is it relevant to the Jag?

Cheers
M

Who cares if it sticks open?

I removed fuse 19 months ago. My wife insisted I leave it out.

There is a listing in the specifications for the car that indicate when the active exhaust is open. I don't remember them all, but it was at start up, under full throttle acceleration, and a couple of RPM ranges. At highway cruising speed it would be closed.

Default After Market Exhaust

Has anyone ever fitted one of these on a XKR 2010 onwards. If so, how loud are they?

This is the removal of the large rear exhaust box.

Made by Paramount.

I have the Jag performance exhaust option. Any difference for this compared to the normal active exhaust?

Thumbs up Fuse 19

I went for a test drive on the highway--I was very surprised to see that there is virtually no difference in engine/exhaust noise on the highway (at low loads). Also there is virtually no difference in engine/exhaust noise on startup and at idle, if anyone is worried about that. It truly is the way the car was meant to sound--muscular but still very refined.

How many of you guys have pulled fuse 19, and for those of you with XKRs who haven't, why not?!

Also, while I was back there, I removed the fuse for the "power aerial" since I really hate looking like I'm from 1995 when I'm driving the car with the audio on.
In the XKRS if you push the dynamic button the valve stays open.

Ok, so I just pulled fuse 19 on my 11 XKR and I'm not sure I hear a huge difference. Perhaps a little more backfire when I rev but it doesn't really seem louder. So without pulling the fuse when you select Race mode the flap is open right? So by pulling the fuse is the point that it sounds like Race even if you don't press the button?

Or is it the case that even with Race on unless you pull the fuse the flap isn't open until over a certain RPM. But when you pull the fuse the flap is open constantly?

When you added the Mina Exhaust you deleted the vacuum system that is in the stock box and controls this function.

You've essentially been riding around with "fuse 19" pulled ever since you installed your Mina
