Default XKR-S loses the roof...

The Jaguar XKR-S Convertible

I didn't think they'd pull the top off the S. Guess I was wrong -- that's going to be one mean convertible...

The key will be if these cars can be tracked. Most sanctioning bodies and even HSDE require a roll bar to participate. Unless one can easily be incorporated with the Jag's aluminum frame I suspect well never see one on the track.

BTW the HSDE I've attended with my Corvette coupes do not consider the factory AROP system as adequate for track time.

Yeah -- I haven't looked a whole lot into what our local track considers OK yet. Most of the manufacturers really don't like making brutal convertibles for that very reason. But it's also one of the reasons why I bought my XKR -- one of the few 'over the top' convertibles.

Mind you, in all honesty coupes are so much better for track days. It's why I kept my cheaper little coupe sports car -- nobody whines and there's more rigidity and some modicum of roll over relief.
