Default zf6hp26/28 trans question

when I try to launch my car I can only get the rpms up @ 1500 before it goes in a limp type mode where it drops the rpms back down. is there a way around this ie a tune or something?

I would think a tune would be able to unlock it. I've not tried it on mine to know if the '07 would be different. Of course I'm cursed with an open diff so I assume the one tire fire would trip the traction control.

What mode were you trying it in? Full auto or some other combo of less intrusive electronic traction controls?

If you get Tire Slip on launch, the Traction Control kicks in and cuts back the power. You may be experiencing that. I'm not real familiar with the -S-GT, but I assume there still is a button for DSC. Have you tried holding it down for 10-13 seconds and turn the Traction Control all the way off? You'll roast the rears, but then also know if you get past the 1500 RPM. Hold the DSC for a few seconds only and it will go to Track Mode, and give less priority to controlling Wheel Spin, but it is still short of NO traction control.

The XKR-S GT does not need any more than 1500 RPM on launch. Any more RPM and you will just spin and burn the tires. Not to mention the stress you would be putting on all the other drive-line components.

Dsc is off and I have launched in drive and sport mode. I'm only looking for 100-300 more rpm. I don't have an issue with tire spin since I use a drag radial

Are you trying to rev while holding the brakes? If so you might need to flash the converter from idle to get it to stall higher and hit harder. That will also shock the tires into grabbing / wrinkling if the pressure is low enough.

I'm going to assume that the getting torque limit monitor in the trans is triggering the restricted performance. That's something you can look at live with a good scan tool.
