C-type replica

C-type replica
Hello,
Did anyone ever tried to build a C-type replica , using a XK140/150 chassis.
Here in the netherlands it is impossible to get a c-type registered as a classic car.
The date of the chassis is leading in the registration, independent on how many classsic parts are used.
Therefore using existing XK chassis seems the only solution.( unless you pay €40.000 euros tax )
Any input would be great.
regards,
Peter Jan

Greetings Jan, C-types never actually had a chassis as seen in the XK cars.
Your best bet is to get a tatty Mk 2 or S-type jag and use the running gear attached to the space frame and manufactured tub.
Also important is to use the car registration documents that come with the donor car and register the finished car as Mk2-C-type. (C meaning Competition)
A few months ago I saw a Black C-type with Dutch plates driving around Hampshire, so someone has done it in Holland.

Hello ,
Indeed this has been done in the past, but things have changed.
The last 10 years you have to pay maximum CO2 tax first ( around €40.000 )
and it will not be a classic car, as I said the Chassis ( in this case space frame)is leading,
It does not matter how many parts are used from an old Car.
Even if you try to register the car as a Classic in the UK, and then import it to the Netherlands, they do not accept it.
