Default XK 140 Timing Cover Color

Hi,

Doing some research on the color of the timing cover on our XK 140 with C-type head. It looks beautiful after wet-blasting but believe it should be painted black with the rest of the block. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

The only timing chest cover we are aware of that was painted with the block was found in the J 60 engine that was found in the FOX and Scimitar. Of course the entire engine was painted in the light military green.
