Default Headlight Washer, too much work for something I never use

Does anyone have drawings that show the washer in detail? I've got the headlight out. It looks to me like there was something that held the washer back, but not sure how. It was way too hard to get the headlight out, or I would pull the other one to compare.

Does anyone know what pulls the washer back after use? I see two tabs that may have had something connected to them like a rubber band. I think it was already broke when I got it. Thats why I can't see anything in there that makes sense.

I agree they are pointless. They spray water all over the front of the car and don't clean the lights at all. They are obligatory on cars fitted with xenon lights - at least here in Europe - but I usually remove the fuse to stop them working.

Has anyone had these headlights out and seen the way the washer is pulled back in place after use?

There is a V shape on the underside of the lamp unit the washer fits/slides into, the 2 tabs then click in place, you need to have the lamp half in, half out, to refit the washer, you have to line it up well so it snaps into place otherwise it will easily come out again.
Once you have managed to clip the washer in you can refit the lamp.

Wouldn't it be neat to replace the powerwash units with lasers or machine guns to blast jerks off the road

I see the V under the headlight, but I don't see where the tabs click into. What pulls the washer back in after it washes?

It is the pressure of the water that makes the jet go forward, when the pressure stops it returns via a spring.

I have many head lamps at work I will take a pic tomorrow and show you.

It's the spring that I don't see or have. My guess is that someone before me put it back together without the spring and rigged it to stay. Pictures would be great! Thanks.

David, you can get a brand new OEM washer assembly for about $60 from Nalley Jaguar. It's the complete unit that click mounts underneath the headlight and includes the pump, nozzles, etc.

I'm hoping to avoid that. I've got everything but the spring. If I can't get just the spring, then I should be able to come up with something that can do the same thing.

I forgot to sort a pic, my bad.... done it now

The big ring is the V shape the 2 smaller rings are where the washer clips behind to hold it in place.

The spring to return the washer is internal and quite strong, you should be able to pull the washer out and feel the strength of the spring, if there is no resistance, then the washer is faulty

Thank you. It took awhile but I finally understood that it was internal and I have it all back together. I checked out the website for where you work. Great Stuff!
