I used a 100mm led ring 6000k sourced from ebay.
I also bought a second LED bulb to match for the running light.

I'm not sure what the appeal is with the "pixie light" fad.

It looks as if you have good technical skills, but I don't really understand why you would want to make your Jaguar look like a BMW.

I've been making these for years.... I like them... The only prob I have is how they look with lights off which is why I make a aluminium case, in the early days I use to get my own PCBs made which cost a fortune, with the onslaught from China it has made me look for different options.

In search of the less expensive alternative, I coated the top of the leds with a bit of silicone grease, then spray painted the entire pcb board with leds in flat black. After dry, i wiped the layer of paint off the leds so only they would show. I would prefer your alum housings, but this works for now @ $15.

I think it looks good. Some people like to keep their cars original looking, but to each his own.

Now if you start adding spinners and neon lights to the underside I might have to change my opinion.

Unfortunately I was using my phone camera, which doesn't nearly capture the brilliance of the light. I'll take some better pics in the day light with the good camera later.

Excellent Job but a bit too BMW for me.

I am considering the DRL's, and some of the internal lighting mods that were covered in the Jaguar Enthusiast Magazine October 2009. With the DRL under the 8's strakes.

 

Take a look HERE on my website, gives you an idea, not cheap, the really good ones are REALLY expensive but it is in the quality you notice the difference. The ones you get on ebay are litterally either a PCB or the silicone covered type which are cheap as chips, no bad thing, it is how I 'cheapened' my original design.
I was paying $150 for a pair of purpose made PCBs with LEDS all in from a company here in the UK, because of the small run is why they are so expensive.
If I was to recommend any type it would probably be THESE. I have had not the best results from the silicone coated type, but what is good is they are versatile, I did this for one customer.



But if you are feeling a little more flush you can try the LED tubes, these really do give you the BMW effect if that is what you want, click HERE

I wouldn't recommend the CCFL tubes to anyone.. they just don't have the life that the LEDS do.. and the sparkle of individual LEDs is superior in my opinion... for those who like it.

Has anyone else done this to their XK? I see Adamesh has a set available---anyone had experience with them? Looks like I could probably build one from eBay.

 

I have ordered a few things from them without problem. There's definitely some expense in coversion from EURO and shipping - I'd really recommend making them.

I've made 2 sets already now, and I think I had $30 in the whole deal.
The only challenge aside from wiring them in, is sizing them and fastening them to the light housing.

I chose an epoxy because I wanted some heat capacity... a more mechanical technique might be better, but I haven't seen any problems as yet.

I also noticed Paragon is selling thier less expensive version now on thier site.

 

I have some you can have cheap.....depends on your definition of cheap but the pair delivered for $100, this includes the aluminium rings they fit into plus some spare LED strips.
