Default Missing Wiper Arm Caps

I am missing the round caps at the base of the wiper arms that cover the nut/bolt. Are these dealer only things or are these something I can pic up at local parts store?

Thanks in advance

You can send a note to JagTechOhio on the forum or you can go to http://www.motorcarsltd.com/ and ask for Ken. They have used and new parts.

I cannot imagine why so many of these things go missing.

Any recycling yard probably has several from various Jaguar models. Problem is that the shipping is going to be a lot more than the value of the cap.

They are not expensive. Maybe a trip to the dealer, saving postage, might be the answer.

I'd like to know where these 'little' items go missing from, my car was absent its driver side wiper arm cap. I mean, how do the get lost...do they 'jump' out of their secure little opening? IIRC, it was $8 from the dealer for the color matched cap.

My suspicion is they go AWOL after a windshield replacement. The wiper arms must be removed for this job, and those guys just don't give a rip about the "finer details" of our XK8s / XKRs!

I've lost four over the years, they are not attached very well, I think they are knocked loose when washing the car. I'm going to try a little RTV when I install the next one. I've been buying two at atime from the dealer, still have one left from the last purchase.
Cap-wiper arm GJA8966AB List $ 2.76

They are made of plastic and I think they are subject to UV breakdown and just disintegrate over time. Remove one and it is subject to cracking very easily.

Looks like I will head to the dealer pic up a pair and RTV in place just for piece of mind.

Thanks for the help....still feel a little wet behind the ears when it comes to the little things about the car.

Orlando,

I had the same problem with my 05 XJR. Go to Lowes. They have a hardware selection with some caps that will do the job nicely. They even let me walk outside with an assortment of caps to determine the exact size required.

Short of that, the good folks at Colliers Jaguar are close by and these items can't be that expensive. How many times have I said that over the years.

Default Caps replacement

I'll go a littler further with tarhealcracker's recommendation as this is what I found on mine.

An OEM wiper arm cap on the right and someones gooped on plastic piece on the left.

Go to Lowe's and get Hillman's black nylon hole plugs in 7/8".

Here is the comparison of the OEM cap on the right and the Hillman hole plug on the left. As you can see the Hillman hole plug is much more substantial than the OEM cap.

Fits well and looks perfect installed.

The Hillman hole plugs were $1.38 for a pack of two. Jags MSRP is $2.25 ea. My dealer wanted $6.00 ea for them!!

nice substitute...and there's a lowes in every neighborhood so the drive is shorter! And that $3 saved can go towards those really yummy smelling sausage dogs at the EXIT!

LOL! They do that in Texas, too? I thought that was just a North Carolina thing. I have three different Lowes stores all within easy driving distance, but I always chose the one in Wilson because the chick selling hot dogs is f-ing HOT!!! And she always wears short shorts and a little tank top that shows her belly.
