I took the wheels from the donor and had them powder coated the same color as the trim around the mirrors. I think it came out awsome. I think it give it a little more modern look. Let me know what
you think.

This is how I came to the color choice that I did. My $2000 car came with the same size wheels on the back as the front. Some past owner must not have like that you can't rotate the wheels from front to back. When I got the donor car it had the correct wheels on the car. I recently put new wheels on my 04 BMW X5 and they were a dark gray. My older kids (23 and 20) told me that they thought that it made the X5 look more modern and I had picked that great color. I really liked the trim color on the mirror and I thought that might a great color to do the wheels in. So I removed the side mirror on the donor car, loaded up the wheels and headed to the powder coaters. I looked through a lot of swatch colors before I found the one that I thought would match the best. Here is the color code from the shop. P7 Glimmer/CL01. That is the best info that I have for the color. My wife has a 2000 XKR red with the chrome wheels and the chrome is coming off and with that color combo, it looks like a chick car to me. The new color for the wheels makes it look much more masculine. I need to redue her wheels not really sure what I'm going to do there. I understand that to rechrome wheels here California is a real challenge. My tire guy told me that it would be cheaper to buy new aftermarket wheels. I would love to hear any thoughts anyone might have on that subject. I should make a new post about that one.
My wife's 2006 XK8 Victory Edition came from the factory with the 19-inch Atlas chrome wheels. She likes them, I despise them. But it is her car, her choice. The chrome is flaking at several of the rim edges, not enough to cause the tires to lose pressure yet, but sooner or later that issue must be addressed. I suggested a set of refurbished non-chrome wheels. She said no, she wants her existing wheels re-chromed. I have not been able to find a rechroming service here on the East Coast but you have probably the best-known one there in California. It is called Calchrome and they are located in Valencia, CA. Check them out at calchrome.com. The last time I checked with them (just over two years ago), they charged $1,000 for four 19-inch wheels plus the cost of shipping to and from their facility. They said they would need the wheels for 5 to 6 weeks. They also said no warranty and no guarantee that the new chrome finish would be blemish-free. Thus far I have been unwilling to roll the dice on that option....
If you should ever have a need to touch up one of the wheels CrossLinkPaints can supply a color match for Tiger colors. I found CrossLinkPaints after I restored a set of flaking chrome Apollo wheels for my 2004 XK8. Its worth reading thru my DIY on the wheels if you are considering restoring your wife's chrome wheels. It was quite an effort.
