*** FREE XK8/XKR Roof Hydraulic Relief Valve Kit Prize Draw ##WINNER## ***

I'll do a write up when I install it.
Yes, I cycle my roof every time I drive the car, sometimes multiple times. I don't have a garage so it sits outside and every time I stop somewhere I put the roof up. Also thankful to Steve "WhiteXKR" for the remote roof control mod as it makes it so easy to just use the remote and walk away while the roof goes up.
Gus's Pressure Relief Valve was on my list as a must have mod in the "future" and I'm very thankful to Gus for the prize.
I currently have the resistor mod on the pump but not really sure it does any good as my latch cylinder started leaking anyway. Also the resistor slows down the roof operation a lot which I don't like.

The resistor does indeed slow things down a bit. Normally it's by about 5-6 seconds. Since you cycle the top so often, I can see how it might not be the best solution for you.
From survey results, it appears that both the relief valve and the resistor offer some improved odds for avoiding a latch or hose failure (first-gen hoses). Neither device does away with failures altogether.

Voltage reducer results.
Note please:
- test conditions, prescribed v. actual
- hose failures are not caused only by static peak pressures (as we all assumed back in the day) but by transitions between different pressure states.
Actual user experience, the effect (if any) on hose failure rates, is the only way to objectively gauge how any given system performs.
