Default '01 XKR Steering Wheel Airbag Removal

How do you remove the two wire connectors from the steering wheel airbag? I have the airbag loose, but want to make sure that I remove the wires correctly. I believe you squeeze the plastic tab on both sides, but then do they pull straight out (up) or ?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

sorry, can't help you. There will be only a few who can confidently answer your question, probably a tech or someone very familiar with these air bag systems. My airbag was loose and I didn't dare do anything myself, so took it to the dealer to be corrected.

Bump for someone else to see this and hopefully get you squared away.

Yes, simple - two, two-pin connectors on your MY. One Black, one gray (with yellow backs). Pinch the side springs and lift straight up. They're even keyed and impossible to mix up. Early MYs and X308s are different with a simple wire harness and floating male to female connector.

Airbags really are simple to remove and replace, though I always feel like I'm pulling the pin in a grenade when I do it! It doesn't help when the Bentley manual for my BMW said to be sure to store the steering wheel bag up just in case it should go off!

Ha, ha, yes, I can really relate to that feeling. I have several spare air bag modules on a shelf for both BMW and Jaguar models. I feel the same way every time I walk anywhere near that rack.
