I have an 05 XK8 and the radio/antenna seems to work fine except the antenna will not stay in the retracted position as described in the manual when the radio is off and car is running. Place the ignition switch in position I or II and the antenna goes up. Shut the car down and the antenna goes down. Turn the car on and leave radio off or turn off and the antenna goes up/does not retract. Any idea what to look for?

 

Is it possible the previous owner installed an auxiliary switch (perhaps in the console) for controlling the antenna and it's causing this behavior? Instead of preventing the antenna from rising, it's causing it to stay extended?

 

From the documentation that came with the car, it is the stock Factory Alpine AM/FM/CD/Tape deck, which works great. I was thinking that there may be some kind of setting, but it doesn't say anything about it in the manual.

 

Need to quit putting Viagra in the fuel tank.

 

Open the console box and look in the rear of it for some kind of switch----as mentioned above--. It may have one and just changing the setting (on or off) may solve your problem.
Another possibility is your (music) CD player may not really be turning off. You say the radio turns off and on, so that should be OK. I can't remember if the ANT operates when the cassette is used, but you might check that. It may have one stuck in it.
