A good friend of mine has an 05 XK8 Coupe. The computer was diagnosed to be defective and sent to a rebuilder who lost the computer. My friend acquired a used computer for the car, but when he plugged it in nothing worked. I suppose the computer needs to be programmed to the car? Is there a security system that prevents it from starting? The Jaguar dealer initially said that they could do it. They spent four hours and gave up. Any technical information on this issue would be greatly appreciated. The JAg is a LHD US market car. He is contemplating parting it out which would be a damn' shame.

I have a genuine Ford VCM and a laptop with IDS. Can it be used for this task? I can also setup remote access if someone experienced can help out.
Does anybody know which version of IDS or SDD is needed for this task? What needs to be done to re-program a computer that has a VIN in it to a different VIN?

 

is it just doing nothing when he turns the key? do immobilization set up in IDS and it should run.

the VID block of the ECM (vehicle info) determines active cruise control or not and some other stuff so hopefully the donor was optioned similarly


99% of dealers are incompetent, they can’t even program a key if their lives depended on it. mine blacklists anything pre-2008

any of them, you probably have 118.5 which is the best


punch in the VIN when it asks you to read it from the car say no. go to set up and configuration then immobilization set up and it will walk you through
