Intermittend problem. sometimes when I insert the ignition key and turn it, all power is turned off and the security lights on the red console come on. I have found by inserting the key in the trunk lock and unlocking the trunk the car will reset in a few seconds. Does anyone know the cause and fix for this?

 

You will need to have the codes read by someone with dealer level software that can interrogate the individual modules. I suspect you are having a problem with the SLCM (security locking control module).
You might try disconnecting the battery and unplug the module and clean the connectors.
The module is mounted underneath the fuse box in the boot and has a tendency to corrode.

Have you checked your exciter ring? If the ring is bad it will not see the chip in the key to allow the car to respond. This is about a $30.00 part that could fix your problem. It is located at the ignition switch and it has 2 wires. Ohm it and it should read 33.4.
