'05 XKR 100 headlight igmo needs help!
I have an '05 XKR 'vert with a missing left hand low beam. We put in a new Sylvania D1S 35 HID Xenon. This included the ballast. Now I have two great white high beam Xenons, but still only 1 right hand low beam. The left hand (USA driver side) fuse box revealed the #21 10 Amp fuse was fine.
Autozone sold me one for $99.99, after Jaguar Tampa quoted me $249.62 for the bulb and 1.5 hours @$125/hr for the labor, or $187.50. Nearly $440.00 for a headlight bulb did not sound attractive. The install bill at a local shop was $37.50. I chose it to save the $300.
Questions: And yes, I saw the U-Tube vids and read all the threads I could find on this subject, but is that bulb both high and low beam? The #21 10 Amp Fuse is shown as serving both , and I quote from the owner's manual, "Left-hand main beam headlight (HID)" and "Left-hand dipped beam headlight (Halogen)". So, is it a dual purpose light bulb, or are there actually 2 bulbs? Why do I ask, you say? The installer said so. Under 6-17, Roadside emergency, the bulb chart shows "Headlight- main beam, 12V 60W, Halogen HB3 or HB3A when fitted with Xenon dip" and a separate bulb called Headlight-dip 12V 55W Halogen H1 long life.
My hunch is that Jag is right, and I also need a dip beam bulb. Anyone have a cross reference for this bulb and can anyone confirm there are truly 2 bulbs, one for high and one for low beam? I'm assuming on the UK side of the pond main is bright or high and dip is dim or low. Can anyone confirm?
