Default 2000 xk8 remaining issues

Got the engine, transmission, and fuel pump repaired or replaced. Now for other things on my checklist.

The driver's door has a big bent in it . I was thinking about replacing it with the door from my 97xk8. Is this a simple swap, do I need to take parts from 2000 door and install them on the 97 transplant, or is it not possible to do the exchange.

The windscreen needs to be replaced. Does any glass work or need some spacial fitment. Also needs the mirror.

Thanks, Bob

Default Windshield

Bob, as I recall there are 4 different windshield options:

standard
with heater
with rain sensor
with both rain and heater

huge price differences. While the plastic surround is fragile, it can be reused. That was 1 reason folks warned me to use an experienced installer.

I have standard windshield on a 1998 convertible. Final prices were all over the place, think I found one for around $300, but will have to check. Let me know if you want to have me look it up.

btw don't forget to do any work needed to secure loose defroster vents while old windshield is removed. Easy to get to them that way.

John

I had a new windscreen put in a few months ago on my 2003 XKR convertible.

Mine was light dimming, no heat. Dealer wanted $1200. Safelight was around $750. Local windshield specialist was $450. I went with the local guy and it's been great. They reused the trim no issues. From time I got quote to getting car back was like 4 days. They only kept car 1 overnight.
