Probably just needs a good cleaning. Check out the FAQ thread at the top of this xk8-xkr subforum, and look for a link to cleaning instructions...yes, you'll have to take it apart. Welcome, new guy.

Had exactly the same problem on my 04 XK8 that I just picked up last week. before buying the car I went over _everything_ with a fine tooth comb but never bothered to put a CD in the changer! Followed the instructions and it now works great. In the process, I discovered that my car has the premium sound package that I was not aware of when I purchased the car. A great day thanks to this great forum.

H2O Thanks, I really am new because I can't find the directions!

Hmmm, its not in the FAQ, my mistake. It should be, however.

This thread should help -> https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...changer-38681/

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...no-disc-27536/

and a pdf of the process from the 2nd link above. Good luck.

Have had the same problem a couple of times in three years. Just go to the trunk, eject the cartridge with cd's, and pop back in, and it should return to normal.
