2002 Jaguar XK8 - Transmission Wiring Loom/Access
There's a loooong story and I won't bore all you good people with it. Maybe the truth (lol) will come out in the thread 😃
I am unfamiliar with much when it comes to the transmission on the 2002 xk8. And associated model ranges.
There is a large circular electronic connector that comes off of the side rear of the 5hp24 transmission. It clips onto the LH rear area,,, a bundle of wires going into the trans... Connector brings loom from exterior to interior.
Q: where do they lead and is there anyway to access the internal connecting points without digging deeply into the trans? Is there an access panel/cover that can be removed to inspect?

If memory serves me, I think you access those wires by dropping the transmission pan. That wire goes from the transmission to the transmission controller located next to the ECU, rear right of the engine compartment.
You guys are the best!
sorry for the late reply...
I have a looooong awaited engine swap... a long wait. Anyways, when I removed the engine from a 2000xk8 with just 37k miles, I accidentally put a ton of stress on the loom, so much it yanked off the clip and pulled, what essentially is a big plug (double orings for trans fluid and fluid area) and wire loom plug itself, away from and out its housing... Ill try and send a photo. Anywho - since, I have been very worried that I might have damaged all or some out of site and reach connections inside of the transmission body... That photo (thanks) eases my mind a bit, for some reason. Still, the engine is not in the car and now might be a good time to drop the pan and have a look. Trans fluid is going to have to be replaced anyways. I might as well.
