2003 xkr coupe cabin ceiling fabric edge separation
Hi Cat Lovers:
My 2003 xkr coupe cabin ceiling fabric edge is starting to pull away from the window top black rubber flashing detail. The rubber flashing is suppose to overlap & hold the cabin ceiling fabric edge. The fabric can be pulled back under the rubber manually, but it comes loose again everytime when the door is opened or when window is lowered. Any remedies?
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

First you can get under the fabric to inspect the foam to see if it is deteriorating. If it is it will be powdery and gritty you'll know. But if it is the rest of your head liner is on borrowed time. Any thing you do will only increase the amount of delamination to the rest of the headliner.
But if you must try something I would get some rubber cement and a artist brush. Put a little at the delamination point. Do not saturate the fabric because I'm not sure if the fabric will stain. And do not pull down on the fabric this may only add to the delamination problem. Remember all you are trying to do is get a little adhesion so the weather stripe will keep it at bay.
Again with rubber cement to work you must let both serfaces dry then it will act like contact cement. And unlike contact cement if you get any rubber cement on a nonporous surface you can get it off by just balling in up.

pcc,
Thye place it usually starts is where you hit your noggin getting in and out. that usually starts the peel back of rubber, exposing fabric, etc.
If this is the caseand it is only at the door top area and you get it under control. GreenJewel came up with the thing of placing left hand on the aluminum strip at base of door and "roll" out of the car. That keeps you from peeling rubber and head liner back.
