2004 Jag XK8 - Convertible

Does anyone have an idea why my convertible ‘04 Jag XK8 w/ 122k passenger door will not close all of the way? The red interior “passenger door open” light stays on in the dash display. Alarm will sound randomly and you can hear the door locks trying to engage/disengage. Any help is appreciated. Thanks ✌🏼😎

Open the door and spray the latch with lubricant WD40 and open and close the door a few times and see if that fixes the problem. Often the latches are forgotten and not lubricated.

Calmaldo,
I had a similar problem with my 1999 XK8, and when I took the door skin off, I found part of the plastic bracket, holding the door latch, had broke and jammed the mechanism.
Does the latch actually open as you hear the motor whirring. If not, your "sounds" probably means one of the cables going into the latch mechanism has failed. Best case it's just a plastic retainer/spacer on cable joining the latch or the cable has come loose and is hopefully repairable. Worst case is the entire latch needs replacing at approx. USD250.
