Default 2004 Jaguar CAN Bus is like???

The new head unit I've put in the car can connect to a component that will read the CAN bus but that component doesn't talk to any Jaguar. However, since I just need to pull off sensor readings and CAN is supposed to be a standard and this is a 2004 car (so should be solid Ford) there is a chance it might be similar to a Ford. The obvious choice would be a Lincoln LS which supposedly used the same engine but, wouldn't you know it, the component doesn't talk to it either (strangely there isn't anyone that wants to hot rod a Lincoln LS). I checked with Jaguar Specialties and for a fee they'll do the decode for me and if there are enough folks that want this they'll be a solution and a chance I can get back what I spent. But better would be if someone actually found the mystical Ford that was similar to a 2004 Jag.

It's a long shot but if you are interested or actually have an idea I'd appreciate the help or comment.

I'm going to break out the OBDII reader and see if it will link with a Ford setting and will post what I find.

Default Update

OK from the OBDII perspective a generic Ford setting pulls all of the sensors (at least as far as I could tell) but then I tried Audi for the hell of it and it worked as well. Next I tried Honda and got an error and several sensors (speed and RPM) didn't populate. I'm guessing a lot of the cars, at least with regard to the OBDII information, are the same. We'll see if that holds true if I splice into the network itself but given Ford is big on cross company standards there is a good chance it will.

I'm going to get the module and set it for Ford and see what happens. That'll take a couple weeks will post the result when I'm done.

Good luck and let us know, but I don't think the Ford connection goes much beyond the engine and a few plugs.
