Hello new here. I own a 2004 xk8 /x100. Will a universal cooling fan work in place of oem

 

What is your goal ?

Cheaper replacement part ? More cooling capacity ? Etc ?

a cheaper replacement part for my 2004 xk8/xkr/x100 because it looks as though the replacement of the dual cooling fan is far more expensive than 2003 and earlier of the same model will a Universal dual fan work in this model?

 

You probably need to investigate what is wrong first. The system is no longer an low/high but continuously variable/PWM (4.0 engines are lo/hi, 4.2 engines are PWM). The controller is mounted on the fan shroud. Try and figure out if the fans themselves are bad (both of them at the same time?) or if the controller is bad. Of course check the fuses and relays ahead of time (jagrepair has the electrical guide).

FWIW, the cooling fan assembly is not particularly known for failing, so a used part might be worth the risk.
