2004 XKR Died while driving/turns over, won't start
I am brand new to the forum, now that our XKR has 70,000 miles on her I expect I will be tinkering with it more and more... Thank you in advance for your help.
My wife was driving along and the car slowly died off on her. I initially thought alternator or battery... not the case. The car will turn over just fine although it will not fire off. If I cycle the key a few times it will sputter a bit as it sounds like it almost starts, no luck. I have put a flat in the schrader valve on the drivers side of the engine and I do get a flow of fuel, not a spray as I was expecting?? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Daniel.

I'm thinking fuel pump. As soon as you press in that shrader valve you should get a huge spray of fuel. The first time I did it I get sprayed in the face and all over my shirt. After that I was careful to cover it with a towel of something.
I understand other pumps are available but first see if the pump is the problem. It could be a fuel filter or something else. Do you have a check engine light and or do you have a way to check the OBDII codes?

Do the 2003+ XKRs use the same fuel pump as the 2003+ XK8s? If so, I know you can get new fuel pumps on eBay for about $500. I've seen a used one for about $250, but I only saw one that cheap one time. I made a video on removing the tank and fuel pump. It's not that hard, just make sure you make the nifty tool that Avos invented.
Unfortunately in 2003 Jaguar started using a returnless fuel system. The fuel pump is completely different, and it uses control module to rapidly turn the fuel pump on and off to regulate the pressure. The old pumps are not compatible and the new ones are very expensive.

Doesn't the SC have a higher flow rate?

I did buy a filter as well along with a tool to remove it. I cannot get the filter off to save my life, I hate to say. Has a white portion close to the end of the connector-- a small band, but it does not go all the way around??
It is so difficult to even reach up to it, kicking my rear...
Does anyone know what the tool should look like to remove the fuel filter?
I have a strong feeling I am using the wrong one....
Spoke to Jaguar this morning. They do not stock the fuel pump which tells me they do not go out often. They stated if they replace atleast 3 a year the part will be in stock. No dealer in town (Houston) stocks it.
The filter has some sort of internal clip.....

Go to page 4 and you will see a set of clips http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto...eplacement.pdf I do not know the proper size you will need but I am sure one in the package will fit.

push in on the green insert, then pull apart the filter from within that clamp thingy on the hose. It took me hours to figure out how to get that thing apart.
Boy I feel silly. These type of clips only require that you press in toward the line directly on the colored part, then pull apart. You can use the clip removal tools although they are unecessary. You cannot buy new clips for these types, I had to pick up a couple lines that a mechanic had cut off another vehicle and then splice them in with hose clamps.
