2005 Jaguar XK8 Engine

I was under the impression that my 2005 Jaguar XK8 had a 4.2-Litre engine. According to the web site vindecoderz.com my engine is a 4.0L R6 California. The VIN on my Jaguar is SAJDA42C652A41973.

Can someone explain to me what is going on here exactly?

Now the site says it is a 4.2-litre.

The 4.0 engine was replaced by the 4.2 engine starting with the 2003 model year here in the U.S.

Here's Jaguar Heritage's take on XK8/R VINs. I think the first box is calendar years of VINs and the second box is Model Years

Yours would appear to be a 2004.5 MY
