Default 2005 xk8 continuous hot wire near radio

Hey guys, looking for help in finding a continuous always hot power wire/sourse near thr radio/navigate system? Ive replaced the original system with a garlem (fits perfect) but not driving car frequently the unit batttery draws way down. I understand that if i let the unit battery die i have to completely dismantle the dash to replac battery so i wish to at times let it charge without car actually running.
thanks for your help
Rich

I have a Garmin 2599 permanently mounted in place of the original sat nav. I fitted an additional power socket in the glove box that is powered by the ignition-switched wire in the power socket in Gus's link. The Garmin shuts itself down automatically when ignition is switched off and then, if I'm driving the car frequently, it comes back on almost instantaneously with the ignition. If i leave the car for longer, maybe 10 days plus, the Garmin then takes about a minute to come fully back to life. It's been nearly three years since I fitted it and it's never had a problem with its battery. If the Garmin was connected to a permanent live connection, then it would never shut down unless manually switched off, but of course its On/Off switch is inaccessible when the unit is built in.

I would recommend an ignition switched power source unless you have a Garmin with different operating characteristics to mine

Other owners are trying to get rid of parasitic drains - not add them.

Correct, but ive built in a on/off swtich to solve the contounise power. My concern is the battery drawing down to absoult failer but you seem to not have that problem? Ill have to check to see my model number so were on the same page. I do know my model has the voice command? ill try to get to the model number today. And yes mine too is permentlly mounted and powered. It actually looks and performs pretty good.
Thanks, Rich

Rich, why don't you just run a wire from one of the battery fuses (as opposed to ignition switched) in the fuse box? There's plenty of room under there.

That's a possibility but was hoping someone knew of a continuous wire already in that area, maybe something like the hot continuous wire for the battery of the memory in the old navigation system.
