Default 4.2 thermostat housing "how to"?

I plan to push on with this job next week, does anyone know of a "how to guide" for the 4.2 version?

I did this on my 03. Pretty simple job I thought. There is one pesky bolt to get too. The 4 holding it down. Looking down at them the one one the top right is hard to get too. I took off the front metal plate right there on the Black Plenum, that gave me the space to get it out. Be careful not to let a bolt get loose and get under the plenum!!! I used crows feet like ratcheting wrenches to get mine out. This job is REAL easy. Hopefully you got the COMPLETE T-stat housing that came with the tstat already installed and the temp sensor thing installed also. That is what I did. The two housing parts just push together, just that o-ring sealing them as I recall.

Gus' Jag Repair site has a how-to with pictures, but it is for the 4.0L. I doubt there is too much difference and it should help.

Here's the link: JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

The 4.2 is quite different, I'll do a write up when I get the parts.

Do yourself a favor, and remove the top engine cover ahead of time. It will show you what you need to know. It is altogether an easy job. 2 catches:

==> 2 of the screws holding the base plastic pipe to the block are a bit hard to remove. It looks like there is no clearance for them to back out (the intake plenum looks in the way). Removing the front metal plate definitely helps. It looks like it is not going to come out, until it does.

==> There is a thin hard plastic tube from the top of the thermostat housing to the expansion tank. That tube is most likely very brittle by now, so assume it will break when you look at it. Have replacement hose and associated clamps ready.

Best of luck.

I picked this up from the Jag dealership today, surprisingly they were the cheapest option. I may do the job tomorrow, weather dependant.

I will do a pictorial how to and perhaps a video.
