Default 97 XK8 Tail light problems

The parking light and braking light are out on my left tail light. Getting the "Bulb Fail" message when I brake. Looks like the copper around the bulb housing might be damage. I cleaned it with a sandpaper and it did not help. Any suggestions? Worst case scenario = I found an 01 tail light. How hard these to mount on a 97? Besides cutting into the back end will I need to splice wires or is it plug and play?

Default Try adding a separate ground wire

You could try adding a separate ground to the lamp assembly. Good idea anyway as the original on the connector isn't up to the job. This thread started by hacker-pschorr will show you what to do:
