New to the boards but not new to forums.
Just recently inherited a 98 xk8 convertible, have problems.
First the jaguar mechanic hooked the car up to his diagnostic computer and the car would not communicate, he hard reset it and it started to communicate. Now the car will turn over, but will not start. He is telling me it's a security issue and it will not send timing past the security. The ecu is the exact same number as the old one, it also coincides with the number in the trunk. Also the key fob will not work accept for the trunk button. He wants me to tow it to his shop, I would like to know if there is anything I can do to fix this?

Oh and I just noticed my phone decided to say email instead of ecu.

 

Welcome to the forum and yes you will have to pair the ecu up with the security module, you will need someone with the jaguar specific WDS or IDS software system
