Default Abs warning /stability / traction contol fault messages

Hi Guys
My 97 XK8 coupe has been laid up since last November until now . Over the winter I have regularly started the car and in February had to put the battery on trickle charge as it would not turn the engine over . When the battery was holding charge , I started the car and the above warnings appeared which were not there when last on road . Last week put a new battery on the car and messages remained . Did a reset at the weekend but to no effect . Now running the car every other day or so and it is really sweet except for the persistant fault messages. Any ideas as to what I should look at next ?

Could be numerous things. The only real way is to get someone to re-set the messages then see if they re-appear.

If you want a more simple answer disconnect the battery. Put a towel or something across the boot so you dont lock yourself out. Leave it at least overnight. Then see if your messages re-appear.

You will of course need your radio code and to reset your windows.

Try that and go from there.

(oh and I did read the "did a reset" bit, I am talking about a fully drained capacitor reset)

Have you driven the car yet? They may go away when you drive a couple of miles or less. Many experts have suggested that just starting the car and shutting it off when the water temp. reaches mid scale is more harmful than just waiting until you're ready to drive it. Indeed, the oil does not get hot as quickly as the water.

If your codes do not go away, the quickest way to identify the source of the problem is with a code reader that can identify Jaguar specific codes. I believe there are some on the market now that are not prohibitively expensive, or you can take the car to a foreign car specialist, most of whom can read the codes for you.

Here is a link for trouble shooting the abs system, but it's a slow process compared to reading the codes:

I will bear your comments in mind if the disconnection does not fix it . I have been running the engine for a couple of hours or so every couple of weeks over the winter months.

Hi, Jags friends,

I have a xk84L convertible, VIN SAJFA42C1NA16902 and sporadically for the last three yearsthe ABS/track warnings comes on, however, if the warnings are on and I stop thecar until next day the light on starting the car would not be on but it couldbe come back if the car is started and still worm the engine the ABS light maybe comes on, but, not always.

Deleting errors with my CAN OBDII, U480 the error willgo away and may not come again in few months. My OBDII cannot detect ABS systemcomponents, e.g. Modulator, sensors, etc. My scan will give P1000 which is amanufacture code or test not completed. Could you advise with OBD should buy?

And, as well what is your opinion of this problem.

Thank you & BRegards
Francisco
