Checked everywhere on here but only found a thread for the XJ.
I have added them before to an XJ myself, using the factory set with the jaguar badge attached. I had to use a belt sander to flatten the tabs and jaguar ingot logo so it sat flat on the fender. Actually used tw part bonding clay to attach.

Now, as for the XK8. I really want to add the vents to it as well. I'm having all the side molding removed when painted so I'm looking to add the vents. I'm not sure with the curve of the sides, will the factory vents work? I'd actually like to use the XK8 07 with the turn markers built in.

ANY suggestions and/or help would be great. Photos A++++++

 

I am not a huge fan of the vertical "vents" on the 2007 and later XK (as well as the XF and XJ, I believe) unless they are something that are really functional. Are those things really vents that serve some purpose or merely trim that is made to look like vents.

If the latter I really dislike faux tack-ons that look like they are meant to serve some purpose but are just trim.

I am not intimately familiar with how they are made but if they are plastic you could probably use a heat gun to soften and form them to the right contour then attach with double sided tape. If they are metal, OTOH, then you might be out of luck.

They would likely need to be painted after this forming process but I should be possible. Depending on how different the contours are, the vents may not look quite right once formed to the XK8 shape.

I had thought about doing this, too, XKRacer. They look great on that black vert!

 

The problem with the XK vents is they don't line up correctly... If you have the edge parallel with the door the wording (Jaguar) is crooked, also as mentioned they have a side repeater in them which cost horrendous money and is made by BMW to add insult to injury.
Using XF vents line up OK and have no repeater, as to fitting, just bond them on, I am not a fan myself, I like things to be functional but if the customer requests, so be it, within reason, I have refused to do something's

 

I actually like the vents, wish they did searve a real purpose, but that being said, I think they give a little panache to the car. I'm not a purest and think, like anything, customizing is what makes things more interesting.
As for the vents in the photo, how did you deal with the side marker openings? I have the original vents from my XF and planned to use those since they seemed to fit perfectly after removing the tabs and a bit of sanding on the back. I'm actually painting them black to be more subtle.

 

XKRacer, what wheels are those? Those have got to be the best looking wheels I've seen for these Jags!

 

There 20" Senta Alloy wheels, fitted to later XK models. They can however be fitted to the earlier XK8's and R's with adapters from adamesh or Paragondesign

 

Thanks JJ. I have to ask now, why do they require an adapter? Is it because of the lug nuts, they require spacers or something of the sort?

 

The spacing of the mounting studs is different.

 

X100s like ours have a 120.65 PCD where as the X150 have a ford stud pattern of 108mm

That is a beautiful xkr. I love the "shaved" rear end where the bumper does not protrude away from the back. The vents are nice but that rear end is just spectacular! I can't see the seams to the side quarters, are they filled or do they just not show up in photo. I doubt you could have wrap around rear quarter with the back end all in one clip. Stunning.

 

The bumper is one piece that wraps and hugs the original bodywork then blended to the car..... That particular car does not look like that anymore

This s killing me!! This is THE best modified XK8 I've ever seen. XF tail lights look great

 

I admit it does look superb and the craftsmanship is exquisite, but I still can't quite get my head around spending so much money to make it look like the X150 the customer could have bought in the first place...

 

What's the point in buying something that is commonly seen, what is above is a mix, but no X150 has a back end like that, and no other X100 does either, that one was a one off

 

It's not the aesthetics I have an issue with, but the economics
