Started an aftermarket stereo project this weekend...the kit came with a microphone and I wanted it nicely hidden from view but still functional.
I put the microphone into the console in the ceiling. It has a perfect mounting built in.
The console pulls straight down, being held on by just 2 clips. Undo 2 connections and it free to work on. Pop out the screws holding in the airbag sensors and lay them aside. Now drop the mic into the cylindrical mount and tie strap it in place. The airbag sensors can be re-installed.
There was enough wire in my kit to run along the headline and down the A-pillars then through the dash to the centre console. A fish-tape makes running the wire through the dash easy: no panels to remove.
Installing - just reinstall the do not push on the mesh grille! It's really fragile and a PO had crushed mine. If you do bend it, it can be bent back into shape with a bit of patience. Dont forget to plug in the airbag sensors or you'll get a code 17.
I tested mine at 80 kph and it was nice and clear for both passenger and I.
